Toby's 26th show was the 40th Brit Awards since the annual show began. Mabel, Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Dave, Billie Eilish, Celeste, Stormzy and Rod Stewart performed, with the show hosted by Jack Whitehall.

Directed by Paul Dugdale, Coldplay's album launch from the Citadel in Amman was broadcast live world-wide on YouTube. The sunrise and sunset shows involved a complex audio solution recording & mixing 192 channels.

Kids Choice Awards, Abu Dhabi

Held in the UAE for the first time, the KCA's in Abu Dhabi hosted by Jason Derulo and Haifa Beseisso included performances by Derulo, Conor Maynard, Nora Fatehi and Fnaire. Toby worked with local equipment and crew to deliver the broadcast mix.

Broadcast live to cinemas from Croke Park, this homecoming Westlife show was subsequently remixed by Toby Alington with Steve Anderson for TV and DVD in Toby's SW London studio.

Hosted by Jason Manford at London's Royal Albert Hall, the 2019 Laurence Olivier Awards included performances from all nominated musicals. This was Toby's third year of mixing the live broadcast for the show.

The 40th BRIT Awards was Toby's 26th Brits. Performances included Calvin Harris with Dua Lipa, Sam Smith & Rag'n'Bone Man, George Ezra, Jorja Smith, Jess Glynne, Little Mix, and The 1975. P!nk closed the show after winning the Outstanding Contribution Award.

Toby's 19th EMA's took place in Bilbao, hosted by Hailee Steinfeld. Camila Cabello picked up four awards, with the Best Spanish Audience Reaction going to Rosalía for her performances of De Aqui No Sales and Malamente.

Filmed and recorded over several nights at London's O2 Arena at the end of 2018, Toby mixed the resulting 5.1 soundtrack at his studio in SW London with Musical Director Steve Anderson for future release.

Hosted by Davina McCall, the show was recorded live by Toby at BBC Television Centre. This was Ariana's first appearance on BBC since the Manchester One Love concert, for which Toby was nominated for a BAFTA.

Broadcast live to cinemas from London's Apollo Theatre in July 2018. Toby, Colin Pink and Tim Handley mixed the live-to-cinema 5.1 soundtrack in the MixBus recording mobile for Serpent Productions.

This immensely complex live broadcast, with several theatre companies, live orchestra and literally hundreds of radio mic's, was mixed live to air by Toby from London's Royal Albert Hall using the Mixbus recording mobile.

Following Toby's mixing of U2's Abbey Road show and their appearance on the MTV EMA's, Toby was asked to look after U2's film shoot on the Hudson and their live appearance on the Grammys.

Live from the SSE Arena and directed by Hamish Hamilton, the show was hosted by Rita Ora. Toby delivered the live mix to international television in stereo and 5.1 using United's broadcast facilities.

U2 with orchestra, choir and a live audience. Toby used the Studio One control room plus extra desks to handle the 256-track recording. Toby mixed the show in his studio in SW London, with the collaboration of producer Bob Ezrin.

Toby recorded the show live at Elstree Studios presented by Fearne Cotton. Sam performed live with his band and the BBC Concert Orchestra, and the show was broadcast in November 2017.

The show was recorded in front of a live audience at MediaCityUK, hosted by Nick Grimshaw. Toby remixed the music performances at his studio in SW London for subsequent 5.1 international transmission.

Toby was asked to mix Coldplay live from Stade de France in Paris followed by a live VR broadcast from Soldier Field, Chicago, in summer 2017. The VR audio was produced in 5.1 with ambisonic audience.

We recorded two shows at the end of June, but sadly the broadcast and filming of the event on 2 July was cancelled after "devastated" Adele suffered vocal chord damage. Toby previously recorded and mixed Adele's Live at the RAH.

Toby mixed the live 5.1 audio for CinemaLive & Sassy Film's production of Take That's Wonderland concert on 9 June, 2017. Over 500 cinemas took the live HD feed from London's O2 Arena.

One Love Manchester

Ariana Grande's benefit show, broadcast to over 50 countries from Old Trafford, was the most watched event of 2017 raising nearly £20m for charity. Toby received a BAFTA nomination and a ProSound award for the audio.

This musical with David Bowie's music and lyrics was filmed and recorded live at the Kings Cross Theatre in January 2017. Toby mixed the soundtrack for DVD and cinema at his studio in SW London.

A Bit on the side...

2020 saw the 40th BRIT Awards live from London's O2 Arena, and Toby looked after the broadcast audio for his 26th year on this show. Toby also produced the sound design for the broadcast show including all the inserts and nominations at his studio in SW London.

Coldplay's album launch of Everyday Life in Amman, Jordan, was handled by Toby working alongside Dan Green, Rik Simpson and Tony Smith. The world-wide broadcast via YouTube was very well received. Read an article about our amazing 192-channel audio solution here.

In the studio, the end of 2019 saw Toby mixing Kylie, Westlife and U2, while live broadcasts included the 2019 MTV EMA's in Seville, the KCA's in Abu Dhabi, Coldplay in Amman and Les Miserables live to cinemas from the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End.

Studio

Toby's SW London 5.1 studio continues to produce award-winning soundtracks and masters, with sound design and various promo's keeping the music-to-picture facility busy. Complete with the latest UAD additions, iZotope restoration software, Lexicon reverbs, upgraded TC System 6000 and many other favourite software and hardware features, the studio is ready for any audio post-production challenge, specialising in 5.1 live event music mixing. New Crown amplifiers are driving the 5.1 B&W monitoring array.
